THE CHARMING HOME AT 21 WAIMEA ROAD LINDFIELD SOLD FOR $3.29 MILLION

"An old home in the same family for 60 years in Lindfield sold for $3.29 million — a whopping $190,000 above reserve and the highest auction result on an otherwise bleak auction day on Saturday.

With 300 of the results for the 406 auctions scheduled for Saturday, Core Logic’s auction analyst Kevin Brogan put the clearance rate at 56.67 per cent, 5 per cent lower than last week.

The upper north shore home of the Purnell family at 21 Waimea Rd was on a 1,191 sqm block and consists of a three-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom flat.

All of the houses around it have been extended and taken to the next level — this one’s very much original. It was on the high side of the street and it ticked all of the boxes.

Mr McNee had five bidders register with four of them competing from $2.5 million. It went up in $50,000 bids and was on the market at $3.1 million. “Then it just took off...."

“It’s just a wonderful location close to the station,” John McNee of McNee Property Agents, said, explaining the standout result. All of the houses around it have been extended and taken to the next level — this one’s very much original. It was on the high side of the street and it ticked all of the boxes.”

"The Purnells had five children and the new owners have four young children under 12. “Hamilton did great service to the Purnells for 60 years and I’m sure it’s going to be a lovely home for a good many years for this new young family,” Mr McNee said."
